League of West DeZavala Neighborhoods (LOWD Neighbors)

New neighborhood association alliance forming

January 14, 1999 -- The focus of the committee that was proposed at our association meeting in November 1998 to participate with the San Antonio Northwest Neighborhood Alliance will be changed to form a new organization with more localized issues and interests.  We recently met with leaders of the Northside Neighborhoods for Organized Development (NNOD) and they suggested to us and to the leaders of the Oakridge Haven, & Hart Ranch Neighborhood Associations to form a new alliance.   They have offered to help us to get the organization off the ground.

The existing organizations (Northwest Neighborhood Alliance & Northside Neighborhoods for Organized Development) serve their immediate areas very well.  By forming this new organization and tapping into the experience and expertise of these veterans, we can focus on matters specifically relevant to us and our nearby neighborhood affiliates.

The name of the new league, alliance, or coalition has not been decided.  LOWD Neighbors is just a suggestion at this point.
